MYMESSWITHMYGICA

I know this is a bit off-topic but had a rough night with my new EzGrabber2 from MyGica.
My first mistake was after I had read some comments on Amazon from other buyers who got it to run in Win7 and even found the drivers for it on the MyGica website. My unit was only advertised to run in XP or Vista and I could find no such drivers for Win7. So, I tried to force-feed the install on my Win 7 machine - big mistake. The software part seemed to be okay on install so I proceeded on to the hardware hookups.
On the packaging icons and Page 2 of the guidance instructions it shows the EzGrabber decoder with a USB 2.0 on one side and the red, white and yellow RCA jacks plus the S-Video jack coming out the other side then a picture of a sample VCR deck, DVD player and a camera icon. However these jacks are all “female” as are the inputs on the back of my built-in VCR and another stand-alone VCR I have. As far as I know it’s the patch cords that have the “male” ends.
And, that’s why they included a set of RCA cords that had male ends on both terminuses. (Called a “AV input cable”) on the instructions. After getting these in the loop before I could even hit record there was a electric-type “pop” sound and the video signal died on the VCR’s monitor. Looks like it does not like Win7 machines after all and later there was a driver type error message.
I’m hoping they will release a version for Windows 7 and will contact them about this. Anyway be careful of what you read about others doing it may be untruthful or just folks who might not even know what OS they have.
(I do have a XP machine but am planning to rebuild it and do not want a bunch of SD video on it at this time…)
Any other ideas? Make sure if you buy this those patch cords are included and that the instructions say nothing about their specific usage.

Both monitors seem okay and the tape played okay later. Don't be stupid like me.

Thanks,
Bill
