Do many of you guys buy bare hard drives for archiving your projects? I've noted in the past adapters such as this one. If so, how does one store the bare drive? Are those plastic carriers that the new drives come in available? How about this?
I use bare drives for archiving, I've got about 50 of them. I use the BlacX dock for temporarily accessing the drives and it works flawlessly or I use a Kingwin KF-91 Serial ATA dock mounted in my computer with removable drive trays if I'm going to be working with that drive for a while. (The Kingwin dock has forced-air cooling as opposed to the drive just standing there in free-space with the BlacX dock.)
I buy all my Seagate bare drives from Newegg and they come with a molded, plastic clamshell carrier. These have worked well, but I like the plastic carriers from your link, although, they're $5 where the ones I have been using come free with the drive.
