OT: Need help, now more than ever.

I really, really hate to do this, I am afraid people will think of me as a spammer and just write-off my future posts.. hope that doesn't happen..

here's the deal, a couple days ago I put a video my brother made for a major contest on here and asked people to watch it. They did and it got selected as finalist! Now, the hits count more than ever... I really need help getting this out there.

If anyone could watch it, like it, comment or help me promote it, I would be really , really grateful. Please, anything you can do, thanks a million in advanced.

again, thanks so much,

Josh

This way of judging relative worth is very poor; I don't understand why judges don't just judge. The number of hits is always an inadequate indication. Good luck.

I watched it again! Good luck!

Looks like a lot of work went into making this.

Actually quite an enjoyable short.

Your so nice Serena. Thank you.

Yeah, I agree, it seems unfair to judge in such a way that those of us who have less friends or are less internet social, have less of a chance of winning. It should just be straight up, best video wins. *sigh.

Anyways, thanks a million (Serena) and everyone.

It's not so much "judging" that Korg Kronos cares about, it's about getting their name out there and get people talking about it.

It makes the contest submitters send out emails to their friends, twitter, facebook, forums, etc to vote, view whatever on their video, picture, website, whatever, and in the end it gets the word out about their product.

I'm not in the music industry, or even play, but I've heard of Korg, but honestly haven't thought of them in a long time, and now I'm thinking about them.

So this kind of advertising does work.

Nice video btw. :)

(and I wasn't knocking the OP for posting this video for us to view, I've done the same thing, was really just commenting to Serena about the judging aspect of the whole thing)

dibbkd,

yeah, that is exactly what their doing. hopefully I can get it to enough people to cover that part of the video...

hey could you put that part you say QUOTE: [i] I'm not in the music industry, or even play, but I've heard of Korg, but honestly haven't thought of them in a long time, and now I'm thinking about them. [i/]

thanks for the interest, take care.

The quick crossfades disturb me a little. Not sure what it is exactly about them - maybe just the speed, or the 'contour' ...

geoff

Tthis maybe a silly question but what actually counts as a "view" on YT? Does the counter increment when a visitor starts to play it, or does it have to get to the end? And if so, can I move the location handle to the end to the end to make it count?

Not sure about YouTube but Vimeo the video must go until the end to move the hit counter.
i c e wrote on 6/10/2011, 11:26 AM
I am pretty sure you just have to start watching it... and it counts.

yeah I agree about those quick fades. They are too fast... the whole video moves too fast... I guess that's what happens when you have an hour of footage in three minutes. *sigh

Thanks again all.

take care.

>>>. the whole video moves too fast..<<<

Do you think so? Yes, the opening scene is confusing and the final shot. The titles are very short. But I think on the whole the pace is fine. I didn't have problems with the fast fades.
i c e wrote on 6/15/2011, 11:30 PM
thanks Serena

I think it seems too fast to me becuase most of the videos I make are waaaaay toooooo loooooong. lol.

anyways, take care.

Yes, I have a tendency to let shots linger longer than current practice. So have a look at http://www.gboyle.co.uk/legoadvent%20QT.htmGeoff Boyle shoot[/link]. He posted this for a discussion on lighting, but check the pace.

Too many garish SFX and fast cuts for me, couldn't really understand what the whole thing was supposed to be about?
But then again I guess I'm not the intended audience?
Jay Gladwell wrote on 6/17/2011, 7:06 AM

Serena, have you ever seen the Hungarian film The Man From London by Béla Tarr?

Serena wrote on 6/18/2011, 12:40 AM
No, not that one.

Well, neither am I! But you must remember using imagination in play. Of course it's an advert for Leggo with references to Indiana Jones; you do need to recognise the references. The sets have the Leggo look with desert atmosphere, so needed high key lighting. Agree that it is cut at a frightening pace, perhaps with a purpose that people want to see it again to decipher details of action.
