OT : Need info on the history of editing

I'm doing a paper at University and one of my subject is "Computers and video/film editing"

Is there a good place where I could find info on the history of editing in general and better yet, anything that's related to the history of editing using a computer ? I'm mostly looking for historical information, not technical info. Example : In what year did the first Avid system appear ? How were the amiga computers used for editing ?

Thanks,

Nat

This has all the machines, editing history, etc. Great pix there too.
Also, see if you can find a copy of Herbert Zettl's Television Production Handbook, Edition 2, as it was written just as the first CMX series were coming online, and he covers a lot of history in the book.

Thanks Spot ! This site is going to help me a lot !

For those interested, my work involves making a parralel between what the computer did to video editing VS what it did to audio editing (and recording).
