OT: Need voice-over voice

UlfLaursen wrote on 5/18/2008, 8:18 AM
Hi

Can anybode advise a good place to get a 'qad' voiceover in english done for a one time presentation / PC playback on projector. I need a 1:30 min. voiceover for a 'photomontage' with a calm male voice - it can be with an accent, that is fine. It does not have to be in a real studio - I just did it with my own voice on my Røde Podcaster, and the quality from that is sufficient for this. Because it is a non-profit project, I don't have a lot of money. :-(

Thanks.

/Ulf

Check out http://www.voices.com/Voices.com[/link]. That or maybe you can finagle a deal with somebody on this forum.

What didn't you like about your own voiceover?

Thanks - I don't find myself speaking english 100% fluent (being a dane), but if I don't find another sollution, I will use it with myself - it is not that bad either ;-)

There is a user on this board known as VOguy.

If you look up his profile, you can email him.

His url is www.announcing.biz

I'd be happy to do this. I'm not a pro. That's the bad news. The good news is I won't charge you anything.

You get what you pay for.

Here's my "audition tape:"

Greetings

You'll need Real Player to play it. That was done two years ago with a cheap mic in front of my computer. I now have a very good mic, and a place to do it with no background noise.

I grew up in Chicago and have what is called a "midwest accent."

Just click on my user name and send me an email if you want me to do it.

Hmmm...
I smell a follow-up to that wonderful "What do you look like?" thread: "What do you sound like?"

Sounds great, by the way, John. And don't you know that us midwesterners actually don't have any accents at all? Its everybody else that has an accent. I've lived in Ohio all my life, so that's how I know that people from around here don't have any accent, but people from other places do! ;-)

Thanks Buster.

Still here!

Ulf contacted me, thanks to you - sent a reply. Since Vegas is much more trouble-free these days, (And I haven't had a new edition to fight with for a while) I usually only check in here about once a week, so I would have missed this otherwise.

If you are still looking for a VO person, I use Jim Bratton here locally in Houston for my male VO work. Easy web site to hear his samples at Jimbratton.com. Very good, reliable, all over the internet.
