With all of the HDV discussion going on, I felt like a lot of the information was flying over my head without me understanding what it's all about. So, I looked around for a quick, get me up to speed, reference. I've just had the opportunity to read "HDV What You Need To Know" by Douglas Spotted Eagle and Mark Dileo from VASST. It's made this whole HDV thing so much clearer for me. It covers the basics (including advanced items like aspect ratio settings and audio), different capture cards, the video and audio "production" processes (includes camcorders, editing and capture software, Blu-ray, and HDV monitors), why HDV is so useful, and for me the most important, what I need in a computer system to capture, edit, preview and output. It even covers how to optimize your system for HDV. I've got this gem in my quick reference library now and find myself re-reading parts often. At less than $20 in cost, it's a steal. Great product VASST!
