Just seen it on the news I hope they don't have a repeat. These people have suffered enough.

I'll be praying for those people, and for us, re our compassion and our willingness and ability to respond if asked for help.

upgraded to an 8.7 - they say it's an aftershock.

NE-way it's not looking right NOW like there's a tsunami being created by it so far.

Some of us are lucky to live in the rich parts of the world, as Pat's statement above reminds us of. But I'm surprised at the lack of poignant poltical video statements available, given the amount of people with access to DV cameras and Vegas editing. RandyVild, although I mostly disagree with him, is an exception. He's using his video skills and facilities for a purpose, way beyond that of filling his own purse. I wish more of us did.

Nations--and even money--are inventions of man, and vary greatly in quality and quantity. Nature, and human suffering, are universal. In fact, as I understand it the purpose of religion, a word that literally means "re-linking"--is reconnecting ourselves after drifting apart. Coming together rather than throwing stones.

Uh, and I hear Vegas 6 comes out next month.

When a natural disaster strikes, we shouldn't look for lines on a map, or check the people's politics, religion, skin color. So-called second and third world countires are typically dirt poor, where all too often ulike in the states the issue isn't getting in a huff if your insurance claim isn't processed timely so you can rebuilt in a area when some huricane is likely to destory your property again because you're too damn close to the ocean or you live where some forest fire will burn down you house, but you like the view so you rebuild in the same area, rather people are in desperate need of medical supplies, food and basic housing and maybe need a pot to pee in... literally.

I don't think the people in india know what insurance is.

Hey - Please don't get so upset on this that we get a locked thread on an earthquake?!?

Just let it die - I only put it here cuz sometimes I'm on the forum for a long time searching etc.. and some thing happened that I would have liked to know about.

Cool it guys - or it's gonna get locked.
