I spent the day Saturday an a local track invitational. As is my habit, I will post a few shorts on my website for the team. I got some great shots of the steeplechase... never realized how rought it could get...it's like a blood sport. Everyone wants a spot next to the water pit. Check it out:

Sony HD HC1 - full auto. I'm really starting to like the camera's output. Some of the controls are a bit odd, like for some reason the zoom toggle seems backward to me. Instead of tilting the toggle front to back where front is zoom in, the toggle is side to side and pulling it away from the camera is zoom in... I always want to push it towards the camera to zoom in...maybe someday it will come natural, but after a few months I still screw it up.

OMG Jim - that was hilarious (I hope it was meant to be funny) :-) Love the combination of slow motion, music and zooms. Great job.

Track meets are the toughest sporting event I've filmed. Nice job.

Great job capturing that and funny as well. Liked the SD version the best.

"Liked the SD version the best." - Mmmm, they should have been identical..?

Background on the ref scene. When the guy in purple did a header into the pool the ref went chasing after him and DQ'd the guy believing he was showboating. The kid's coach went wild and thankfully I was on the spot to show them in HD that the kid slipped... so they let him run in the next heat.

Track meets are tough ones. Cross country is easy, you got one race at a time so you pick your spots. Track has guys all over the place...so you try to make it to all your kids events and catch as much of the rest of the meet as you can - throwers seem to get the short end of it.
