I'd take the Spinpoint over the Barracuda, until Seagate regains control of the QC process at their Chinese plant.

I have Barracudas going back to the 34371 SCSIs, those were different days.

Thanks Craftech for headups on the drives, saving a buck never hurts! Coursedesign, thanks for QC info, tho, I see a lot of these, personal experience can not be replaced with marketing projections and idealistic test numbers! ;-)

Sure ... now this deal comes out ... now that i've just finished buying and plugging a 500GB drive into every single SATA port i own. *rolls eyes* Oh well.

Thanks for the info anyway. Next time around it may be something for me to jump on. :)

I just bought the 1 TB Samsung from Newegg so I'm looking for recommendations on a compatible 4-bay eSATA enclosure.

Any recommendations?

it's not a 4 bay enclosure, but I have found this to be extremely handy:

Thermaltake USB2 and esata dock

You take a sata drive and just drop it in, much easier than attaching it to an enclosure or caddy.

I'll probably buy one of those however I'm also stil buying caddies.
The thought of a naked drive sitting anywhere in my work area is just too scary. SATA caddies are uber cheap, so cheap I'll probably buy a carton of them, $20 each for metal, $10 each for plastic, both with a fan.
Here's a hing, we hang luggage tags off the handles, makes it much easier to find the right drive when you've got them stacked in a cupboard.
