OT: Note Book processors

OK. I know we've gone over this manytimes....but...

I'm about to buy a laptop. IT's between an HP with Mobile AMD Athlon™ XP-M Processor 2500+ with PowerNow!™ Technology and a Dell INspirion with Intel® Pentium® M Processors at 1.40GHz, 1.60GHz, 1,50GHz and 1.70GHz with Intel Centrino Mobile Technology.

The Dell is about $200 more but comes back with a DVD writer..

I'm ok with comparing most anything else...but have no experience with AMD. Does anyone know how they compare ..or a site that give a quick side by side comparison ?

Thanks

My opinion? FWIW? AMD on a laptop is begging for trouble.

I love AMD's for desktops, but I have yet to hear anything good about them in a Laptop.

Thanks guys... I went with a DELL Inspirion 8500..mostly becase it has alarger 15.4 screen and a Mobile IntelPentium® 4-M processors from 2.2GHz (as opposed to the 8600 which only had a Intel® Pentium® M processors from 1.30GHz ). I had to give up a free DVD writer upgrade, but I figuer the faster processor would be worth it.. and I plan on getting an external DVD soon anyway

what is FWIW ??
