I just want a camera that'll get in focus what I want in focus.
Before that I need some spectacular advance in spectacle technology :(

Back on topic I've seen this rack DOF thing done with existing tech and I think it's profoundly visually disturbing. I can see no creative purpose for it other than it adds another knob for some knob to tweak so they can put their stamp on the story when they should be focussing on helping to tell the story.
