I am not sure if any of the others from New York are aware of this, but a few Fridays ago NYS included in their new budget a requirement that all online vendors collect NYS sales tax on sales to New Yorkers regardless of whether they have a retail store or other presence in NYS.

Amazon complained (to no avail) that it wasn't their responsibility to collect and process sales tax from NY. Newegg will start charging this tax as of June 1.

Expect other states to follow suit. We're trend setters in New York. Dont'cha love it.
