OT: Odd WMP issuue

Since re-installing XP SP2 (I had to replace the MB and a couple of HDDs) if I use the brightness control then the video turns to a purply colour with some green showing. If I leave the brightness alone then it seem to play OK.

I have installed the WMP codec pack which didn't rectify it. It mainly seems to happen with wmv file which play correctly when the brightness is turned up in VLC Media Player.

I have Quicktime isntalled and, of course, Vegras Pro 8.

The above effect was noticable before I installed QT and Pro.

Any ideas on what is happening and how to resolve it?

are uusing hardware (nvidia gfx card) for yoru video overlay?
mine shifts into red if im nto careful...

Yes I have an GForce 7300 card

But why should it only affect WMP?

I think WMP uses the overlay function of the video card, which other video applications might not.

Checkk your overlay settings.

I turned off the overlay option in WMP and all seems fine!
