OT: One way to avoid Mpeg 2 motion artifacts.

I thought I would pass on a method of avoiding motion artifacts during panning that has worked for me so far. Of course, they are more likely to occur when rendering to Mpeg 2 (if there are to be any) than when rendering to .avi.
When I shoot on a tripod I TURN ON camera stabilization instead of the usual recommendation which is to turn it OFF. That adds just enough blur that I have never had to add blur when editing.
Now, that works with MY camera which is a VX2000. The camera has very good camera stabilization. There are different types of camera stabilization methods used by different camera makers so I can't speak for the others. Some cameras have dreadful stabilization, but they are usually the newer cameras with the microscopic CCDs like the Panasonic PV-GS120 and the like. Those cameras actually turn off the camera stabilization suddenly as the light dims and even when it is on it works poorly. But for a camera with at least three 1/3 CCDs my method should work to reduce the likelihood of motion artifacts in all but the fastest pans.
