OT: Opinions on LACC

I was wondering if anyone has had experience or heard any good things about LA City College Cinema/ Television Program?

I'm looking for a school that has a more hands on approach to Production and tries to encompass Sound, Lighting, Editing, etc.. disciplines.

I looked at the programs offered by USC and UCLA, but they tend to be more theory based and expensive.

I don't know about their overall curricula, but the do bring in a lot of great pro's to work with/hands on/lecture. Sterling Johnson, Dave Checketts, Bryan Mayhew, Tom Wolsky have all been guests there. As far as I'm concerned, that's a good thing. They've gotten a good write up in the past in Videographer. (Not Desktop Videographer)

You couild also try Columbia College in Tarzana (They used to be on La Brea Ave in Hollywood). They are very much hands on. What you learn there is directly related to how much you want to learn. Some say that is a bad thing, others say it it is a good thing.

I am sure things have changed over the years at LACC but they used to be very under equiped. I used to hear so many complaints from students there about this. Used to be a joke that LACC was more than happy to provide you with the sit down class but when it came to actually getting hands on it was "Sure, here is a list of rental houses".

Thanks for the advise. I heard that LACC has really turned around their program in the last couple of years.
