Hey all,
I know this has been discussed before but I can't find the previous threads. I'm configuring my new system for optimal storage. I have the following available:
1TB (RAID 0)
250 Gig IDE (OS drive)
300 Gig SATA
Obviously I'm capturing and rendering to the RAID yah? Or should I be keeping all media on the SATA and rendering to the RAID? What will squeeze the best performance out of this setup? I recall some discussion about keeping media on a separate drive so the same drive heads aren't simultaneously reading and writing.
P.S.
Went from P4 3.2, 1 gig RAM (renders 24 minute SD project in 2 1/2 hours)
to a
Core 2 Quad 2.4, 4 gig RAM (renders same project in just over 7 minutes)
Used to stutter occasionally and lose sync in playback with one SD track and an effect or two. Now I've tested 5 tracks simultaneously with no visible performance decrease. So far so good with 2 HD tracks as well.
