OT:Orchestral instrument question.

I have a question about an instrument, which you hear here

It sounds like clarinet or some kind of flute played in high pitch.
My favorite composer John Williams uses it alot to make tensions in the music score.
I have bought all of the Sony Orchestral Series, but sadly none of them seem to have even 1 loop containig that sound.
I would really love to have or make that sounds, for my film scores.
But I do not know how that piece of sound is called, something like
'Flute/Clarinet roll? ".
Also with my, Synth Yamaha Motif 6. I can’t seem to make something like that.

Does any one know how I can make that sound, or a Royalty free Sound library that has it?

Thanks for any help.

You are actually hearing three instruments playing the same line.

Violins and flutes playing in unison in a high register.
Piccolo playing the same line an octave higher.

Anyway that's what it sounds like to me.
Hope this helps.

Hmm..... yes that is possible. maybe I could try playing piccolo + some other flutes in my synth to get that, but Still It would be nice if there where some ready-made onshots of those some where.
Thanks for the reply.

Any one els?

Just layer it in your Motif. Should be a snap.
Don't forget the strings. That's what gives the sound its "edge."

It's a flute playing in a high octave in a minor key. Any keyboard with a similar flute patch and a sequencer can get you there.

One note though, this did sound like a real orchestra, thus a real flute was used. Getting that same type of shrillness from a keyboard patch might be a little difficult, but could still be achievable with the correct note velocity settings in combination with a good multi sample layered flute keyboard patch.
