To Bob, Serena, and the other fantastic forum members who helped me out as usual.

I just ordered a Sony PMW-EX1 and a BPU-60 battery, and I would like to thank you for helping me with the questions I had about it. I love this forum and the many many people in it who are always there to help others.

Regards,

John

John, pleased to help when I can. No camera is perfect but I'm pleased with the amount of "bang for my buck". Probably you've already perused the postings on DVInfo. Those on setting up the picture profiles (PP "sticky") are worth reading through, starting about at the point of Bill Ravens' first post to the thread; make sure you go through to the end. I suggest you do your own evaluations of cine gammas before deciding on which to use under which circumstances. The manual describes them in laughable poetical terms; Adam Wilt did rather better; your own tests will be more instructive. Consider whether you want maximum data or "ready to show out of the camera". Spend the time needed to understand the options.
Three issues: you will have noted that some early cameras had vignetting problems and back-focus errors have been experienced by some; so check for those. Reading Adam Wilt's reviews you'll have noted that an IR blocking filter is a useful addition, more so shooting under tungsten lighting.
Other than these three issues I believe you can "put aside" other supposed problems discussed at length on DVInfo (unless something new has come up).
