... and they have planned 1TB for 2013.

The first comment posted to the above news story was, "But I was getting used to not having optical discs..."

If this works for video it would be awesome. You could put whole series of movies on 1 disc.

Perhaps (just perhaps), since this wasn't developed by Sony they could make disc players that don't require all the licensing that's required for BD? Or... players that run two formats?

I suspect there's a lot of overlap in the patents for this, so the sales prevention will be in full force.

That problem must be solved if Sony is to get any useable revenues from BD, and solving it will take an executive order from Sir Howard.

I'm holding my breath waiting for this to happen.
