OT: Q6600 Build complete

Here's how my build came out after the usual thrashing about to get the most extreme machine I could justify to run Vegas:

Q6600 (not overclocking -- yet)
WD1500ADFD Raptor 150gig 10000 rpm boot drive (boots Vista in 40 seconds. opens Vegas in less than 5 seconds).
WD5000AAKS Sata2 500 gig 7200 rpm data drive
WinVista Home Premium 64bit
Antec Solo Case
Antec Neo HE 550 power supply
OCZ 4gb PC6400 800mhz Special Ops Ram
Gigabyte Mainboard P35C-DS3R (ready for Penryn)
Gigabyte Video card 8500GT (no fan)
Lite-on SATA 20x DVD burner

John Cline's rendertest.veg -- see: http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?ForumID=4&MessageID=543921
came out at 2 min and 8 seconds...So I'm pleased.

No problems so far with WinVista 64 .. Build went smoothly. Love the Antec Solo case combined with the Gigabyte Video (no fan) so the whole thing is very very quite and runs very cool so far. Still using my old 19" ViewSonic CRT. That's next to go.

hmm, I've been looking to build a desktop since right now I'm just using laptop and docking to two screens, but want to expand to hire on some help. and gonna just provide my laptop to the hire since it's insured. Out of curiosity, where abouts was the price tag on that?

Thanks.

Good luck with the system.
Question: Did you have any problems with the Gigabyte Video card 8500G drivers?
Is Aero enabled or disabled on Vista.

4eyes --- No problems yet with the GIgabyte Video card 8500GT drivers..just used the installation disc supplied in the retail box....I didn't have Aero enabled, but I just turned it on (looks nice but if it causes an ounce of trouble off it goes)...

Frigid .. Cost on the items listed on my original post was about $1320 including the tax. Worth it to me. Got the chip, motherboard and Lite-on Sata DVD at PC Club, the rest at Fry's (yes Fry's!.) . The pricing was fairly close to pricing at Newegg or Clubit online. I've probably built about 20 computers in the last 10 years -- it certainly helps to have some experience and confidence especially in figuring out how the case works (always new wrinkles there) Meanwhile, ohhhhhhhh those rendering times are sweet ...

Spoke too soon about Gigabyte drivers for 8500GT -- I did have to download the 64 bit dirvers for my WinVista 64 .. had "zoomed" in video in Windows Media Player -- correct drivers fixed the problem. So far these are the only drivers I had to download.
