OT: Question for SPOT

Dear SPOT,

I would very much appreciate your advice on whether and how I should approach Sony regarding their possible support of the final level of competition in The 48 Hour Film Project 2005 (www.48hourfilm.org). The competition is sponsored by Avid and Panasonic. The films to receive the Best Film award from each city are being considered now for the best 5 filmmaking teams, and those teams will be loaned a new Panasonic HD camera to make a second film. The competition also loans each of those 5 teams an Avid HD Express. We won best script and best film for San Francisco, using all Sony products (Vegas, DV and Sound Forge). We want to use Vegas for the HD competition if we get one of the 5 spots. I need to be prepared.

Would you please e-mail me off line to tell me whether and how to approach Sony to support this (jcgoodpasture at aol.com)? They could get some product visibility since the editing systems are listed for all films. Also, you never know, but someone has to win the competition. Wouldn’t it be nice to have the winning film be edited with Sony products? I am currently running Vegas 5 (all my fictional film work has been done in 24p with Panasonic cameras). I would need to know what I have to add in terms of hardware and software to do HD, and would have to learn and be ready to work pretty soon – we don’t have any dates yet. Please let me know what you think and what your advice is (jcgoodpasture at aol.com). Thanks very much.

Jessie
