OT: reading up on techniques

Going away on a (nice, long, relaxing) vacation, so I took a walk over to Borders and picked up some books on film making / editing.

Garbiella Oldham's First Cut: Conversations with Film Editors
Richard D. Pepperman's The Eye is Quicker / Film Editing: Making a Good Film Better
Robert Rodriguez' Rebel Without a Crew (whoo hoo!)

I've heard great things about Rebel Without a Crew, and loved his audio commentary on the El Mariachi DVD. This one's for the eight hour plane ride across country. ;-)

Feel free to use this thread to discuss any other great books on film making / editing, though I'll probably miss the whole thread!

(Wow. That thread sunk like a rock... ;)

Gives you some ideas you might not have had

Haven't read the book yet, but it's plugged in the back of one of the other books I mentioned. Same publisher, I guess.

IN the Blink Of an Eye, Walter Murch (excellent book on editing)

Directing the Documentary, Michael Rabigher (great book on documentary filmmaking)

On Film Editing, by Edward Dmytryk

These were a few books I read back in college a few years ago; all suggested by my teachers; great books.
