OT repair my PD150 or buy new

My PD150 needs $650 in repair and I need to decide to have it done. I have an indoor event to shoot at the end of the month. It has 150x10h operating, 12x10 drum, 12x10 tape, 43x10 threading. I loaned it out a while ago and apparently someone kept it on a lot. I don't think I am ready for HD yet. I am inclined to have it repaired. Any opinions?

I have a 6600 2.4GHz Core2, 267 MHz FSB, P5B deluxeMB, 4GB memory.

The 150s are getting pretty old however I still shoot a bit with them as they're pretty goof proof and corporates don't care what their internal videos look like that much anyway.
You'd need to look at something like the EX1 to get PD150 noise performance and while the image the EX1 is capable of is very seductive you've got to work at it and $650 only buys you 1 8GB SxS card. Get your 150 repaired.

Thanks Bob,
I respect your opinion. I really like my PD150 and the low light light quality of the cam is a big plus. The repair shop (videoonerepair) told me they would guarantee the entire camera for 6 months. I'm on the fence about this, but I am going to go ahead and do it and get some good use out of it for a few months.

Is there any competition in the repair business or is the price pretty much fixed?

If you have a good local shop I'd stick with them rather then mail it out of town to save a buck.

I love my pd150 too, but even a cheap HV20 beats it in just about every area. Shooting with HV20 in 24pf mode, low light is no problem at all.

I see no reason to use pd150 any more. Move on to HD(V)

I could not find a good local shop, I tried one a while back that was a 30 minute drive and I was not impressed. videoonerepair will do a free diagnosis and ship it back to you free even if you don't do the work. I read some good reviews and I got a good feeling from them over the phone.
