Since the issue of file system compatability has come up a couple of times, I just did a test burn using DVDA 2.0 (latest build), CopyToDVD (almost latest build) and Nero 6. DVDInfoPro was used to analyze the results.
All 3 programs burned the media with a file system of UDF 1.02 - this is also known a micro-UDF and is the file system format used for DVD's.
One thing to keep in mind is that since Nero is such a general purpose program and has many options, you must select the "Burn DVD Video Files" option to get a correct burn. If you select "Burn a data DVD" and try to drag a video_ts/audio_ts folder onto the project, Nero will warn you that you are not going to be burning a DVD Video disk, but Nero will let you go ahead and burn if you ignore the warning.
One of the reasons I did this test was we're getting ready to move away from -R media for most of our work, and instead are using +R media along with burners and software that let us set the booktype on the DVD to DVD-ROM. I'm currently running tests with the +R media with a few customers who have complained that our -R media doesn't play on some/all of their players. Results from the first customer were quite positive and I should have results from the second in a couple of hours.
<edit> Latest customer experiencing problems with -R had success using +R with DVD-ROM booktype. While clearly this isn't a very large sample set we're going to start moving forward with our conversion - I just wish my Bravo II had a burner that supported setting the booktype.
