love that. "Once Upon a Time in Mexico" has the "10 minute flick school." Very good watch (and I like the movie too).

Cool little article. And very timely for me.
The only thing I (personally) disagreed with is his comment that more things should be hand-held. I'm so burned out on that look. Unless it's done REALLY well, it just bugs me now-a-days. For example, while I quite like the new Battlestar Galactica, the bizarre hand shakes they have inserted, I find distracting.
But it's all in the story-telling.

Handheld can be especially irritating with HDV. My current compromise is to shoot most of the time with the spiderbrace and a wide angle lens and lanc controller. You get the sponaneity of handheld with a pretty good level of stability. There's a whole market of new things like the Fig Rig, Steadystick and Merlin made to address this exact problem.
