GenArts Sapphire is the most sophisticated (as opposed to "spectacular") plug-in package for NLEs and compositors.
Super high quality on the image results, full use of even 8-core computers, 200 plug-ins, the license covers all After-Effects-compatible applications on the same machine.
So what's the bad news?
$1,699.00 or $169.00/month rental.
And the semi-good news?
Toolfarm will have a one-day sale next Wednesday 11/18, where the license price will drop to $999.00, for one day only.
This is still a good chunk of money, but if you're doing sophisticated work, this is absolutely the bee's knees.
Just the Glow effect blows the doors off anyone else's Glow, and the difference is not small.
Lots of other stuff (see the GenArts link above) for doing what you see on TV every day, as well as in a large variety of feature films.
