OT: ScanDisk "Thorough" Scan!

Hiyah!
I'd previously done Standard scans. Just done the above, took 1hour on 2,000,000 clusters, but now my Dell WinME laptop fairly zips through stuff. Internet speeded up, file and packages work far better. I must have had the breaks on my machine for quite some time. This is now changed! Thought I'd offer this tip for those of us with, well, constipated systems. Oh yes I did do a defrag - but this didn't make the difference. It was this "Thorough" scan that made the DellBoy zoom. I don't know what it did, but the effect is truly remarkable.

I ran the "Thorough" Scan while in full Windows. I've had a warning to run "Thorough" while boot up, but this was taking an age. So I ran it after I got to my Desktop Screen.

CAVEAT:However you use this this approach at your own discretion. It worked for me, of course, I can't say what it will do for you.

Regards,

Grazie

Good morning, Grazie.

Yep, that should speed things up as expected.

But, you know when things get really fast? When my machine has a fresh install of XP! I know that is not the best maintenance procedure, but wow! After I start installing all the updates and programs, my system seems to boog down a bit.

'Morning Stiffie! - I aint gonna upgrade my ancient WinME DellBoy. I'm happy with the way it's working now. I'm very happy for you.

However, I do NOW have a fully dedicated PC just for multimedia, running XP PRO - woah! - Is that how Vegas is suppose to work?!? I'm really pleased by what I'm epxeriencing with my latest project - Great Stuff!
