OT: Scanning issue

I need to scan some pictures for a project I'm working on in Vegas, but I recently reinstalled Windows and I can't get my scanner to work right. I use a Canon Canoscan 8800f and before I had it set up so that it would open up in Photoshop and load "ScanGear" within the program. Now it'll only open up Photoshop, but not load ScanGear.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I've searched and searched, reinstalled, uninstalled, installed drivers off various websites -- nothing. I can go File > Import > WIA and use some crappy basic Windows scanning program -- but it's not what I need. I hate to post this in here, but I'm going nuts.

did you install your scanner software?

Don't know about the Canon - but with HP you have to install the drivers and software before attaching the scanner to the computer - not following that sequence will ensure the scanner doesn't work 100% of the time.

I think I tried reinstalling without it hooked up, but I'll try it again when I get home. Thanks.

Okay, it still doesn't work. I've done a full install with all the extra crap I don't need and a custom install for the driver "ScanGear". I have fully removed the drivers/software before each attempt (including registry entries) and no luck.

I would have just used a recovery point before the first time I tried to install it - but sounds like you covered the bases - I don't know what to suggest if that didn't work, sorry
