OT Scenalizer Live

Have to urgently capture all old footage before cameras pack up. Second hand digi 8s are now very scarce on ebay. Have tried loading SC Live onto my new win7 machine but have lost the activation number I originally had but no worries as quite prepared to buy new but SC site doesn't seem to want to sell it to me. Is SCLive still in operation?
Brian
TIA

I don't think it is. Not sure if it'd be any use to you even if it was. I migrated SCL over to a Vista 64bit system about 4years ago. Was very flaky. What's wrong with using the Vegas DV capture?

I have v2.1, never use it any more. Email me at riredale/at/email.com.

If it is digital (DV) then try WinDV. It will break up your source into individual files for each scene you shot, and name it according to shooting date and time. It is very basic, but works with win 7.

Hi Brian,

Sc is still the very best DV capture tool. Works perfectly on my Win 7 64 bits.

email me if you have problem to reactive it.

Thanks very much to all of the above for your generous offers. I emailed SCLive and received a reply from Andreas Winter who said he was not selling the program at the moment. He attached an activation key so all is go again. Will set up the XP machine as a capture factory.
The big advantage with SC is the scene detection when capturing old analogue tapes via the digi 8 camera. The Vegas Capture is fine with digital.
I had a lot of footage archived onto a one terra drive which crashed with a platter motor seizure. I wasted a lot of money on a recommended repairer to no avail. I think they pulled it apart and then couldn't get the platters lined up.
I did think it was a bit flakey in 7 but the firewire connection to the cameras is the weak point. I have six firewire cables and only one works and it has to be very carefully placed in the camera socket.
Just checked a 1989 tape and it still plays ok.
Once again thanks to all and good editing.

I have the old version (probably latest) of SCLive and really liked it. Did Andreas happen to indicate if he was going to be selling a newer version in the future ? (you indicated he said he was not "selling it at the moment"). I always thought it was a cool program although I had to use the spacebar to separate scenes when I was converting my old analog 8 tapes on my TRV-520 camcorder (it converts the tape to DV, but does not know how to read the time from the tape).

Mikey, He just said 'not at the moment' but is obviously reading the sites email as his reply was less than a day.
There is a detect scene change for analogue tape with a sensitivity setting. I found it almost frame perfect.

Always found it strange that they never got into HDV when it appeared.

Thanks Brian - yeah, I am aware of the scene detect for analog, unfortunately, that does not work when you are running a analog 8mm tape in a D8 machine - it plays it back as DV doing the conversion for you (since my analog 8 machine had died), but it also means that the analog scene detect doesn't work (the conversion to DV in the camera has screwed that up.) That was just a minor problem - I was just happy to be able to get my analog tape read.
