OT - Screensavers not Starting? One solution.

This is not strictly speaking a Vegas problem - but it noght help you.
Like many others I was having a problem with the screensaver not starting, and the monitors not powering down (had the same problem in Vista)
After going through a series of tests using msconfig and getting no results, I started to un-hook hardware. The first thing I un-plugged was my Contour Shuttle Pro v2 NLE editing controller.
BINGO!
The screensavre started right away and the monitors will now power down.
No solution for the moment except to keep it un-plugged from the USB port until I need to use it.

A trouble report was sent to Contour, and I hope they will respond positivly.
I hope this helps someone else.
Cheers,
Hal Davey

Another Contour "problem" that I had was when I plugged in my back up drive (seagate 500GB USB) it was never recognized by my system until I unplugged the Contour Shuttle ProV2. Weird but maybe this will help someone esle.

I've had just the opposite problem: when the screen saver comes on and the monitor powers down the computer loses contact with the Shuttle Pro. To get it to work I have to go into the Shuttle Pro control panel and reactivate it.

um.... why not just turn the monitors off? The "old wives tale" about the buttons wearing out has been around since TV's came out & it's always been a lie. They still use at least 5w's in standby & have the annoying light on too.
