OT: Serious DVD Labeler Prgm W/ PSD files?

kentwolf wrote on 5/22/2005, 2:32 PM
No doubt, most of the DVD labeler programs are cheap, chincy programs just to get them out the door so you'll buy their labels.

Does anyone know of a serious, hard-core DVD labeling program (DVD case inserts) **that will allow the use of Photoshop (*psd) files?**

I have an Epson R200 photo printer that prints right on the DVD disk. It would be nice if there were another serious program out there, besides Epson's, that supported disk printing.

I have looked at Surething, however, I am not sure this will work for me. It does appear, however, this is the most serious program I have seen to date. Is there another serious program out there?

Even if is cost a couple hundred dollars, I would get it.

Any input would be appreciated.

DVD case inserts (presumable Amaray style?) are different from DVD labels. Which do you want? Both?

You say you want a "hard-core DVD labeling program (DVD case inserts) **that will allow the use of Photoshop (*psd) files?**"

Sounds like Photoshop. There are free Photoshop templates on the web for case inserts, I thought they worked very well. Just Google...

Note that there are many many kinds of DVD cases.

I have a large catalog and a ton of samples, but in the end I like Amaray cases the best. These are the large soft cases you buy most DVDs in nowadays. They protect well, look more expensive than they are, and don't break like jewel boxes invariably do.

Where do you get your amaray cases, please?

I buy cases mostly through Polyline. They are in Chicago and the delivery is great. American digital also has a good selection at reasonable prices.

This quest has been going on for a long time. I don't know why software developers haven't seen the goldmine in designing user friendly high quality DVD case insert software.

I always use Photoshop to create them as well...you're not going to find a more powerful program than that! If you already have Photoshop..then use it.

Thanks all for your input.

I do have Photoshop CS2; no doubt that is a good program for this, however, I just couldn't seem to make a correct template. I don't know what I was missing, but I was just missing something.

I downloaded the PSD template from the meritline.com site, so I will see how that goes.

Thanks all again.

I don't know if you've ever come across Nero Cover Designer, which is included in Nero. I use it all the time because it is easy to use and has a surprising level of sophistication.
