==================
First key completed today, it's very rough, take a look:
I used Vegas 4, with a high-energy soundtrack using MSL3 pan/tracking shots for this chromakey mini-production:

[note I can post an mpg 720x480 if anyone wants to see it, clearer)
==================

Hey for SM Ultra users, here's the long-awaited new corporate MSL3 set, I've ordered my set today ..

Watch this astonishing demo clip:

http://www.SeriousMagic.com/MSL3-Demo-750k.wmv

These sets are great for corporate training videos etc, watch for all my new video releases in the next few months using these clips.

Their new shopping cart is having a glitch, order via phone at:
http://www.seriousmagic.com/contact.cfm

This is one of those rare products I bought within minutes of finding out about it's release. Those sets are great, especially the corporate boardroom and corner office.

I'm pretty impressed with the motion tracking. I only noticed a few places where the feet were sliding a bit - but then, I was specifically looking for that.
I thought the keying was - mostly good. But for their DemoPiece, I did notice a few times where the green bleed was pretty noticable. Not terrible, but strange, considering this is their selling point.
Great looking product, to be sure. And all that motion tracking! Is this easier than I think it is, or should I be as impressed as I am?

I noticed "Entertainment Tonight" last night (my girlfriend watches it) used a background set of some kind.

It looked like a video game when the camera panned left to right. Quite a dead give-a-way I thought.

Yes, it's impressive, look at the video clip I did (and I'm new at this) at
http://www.daytradingu.com/daytradingjuly2004.wmv

They have a combination of sets that have boom and pan shots built in, or you can use the Ultra built-in zoom/pan if you want to add a zoom/fade for static shots ..

I use Vegas 4 w/SM Ultra to create my DVDs... adds a nice touch of professionalism.

With these latest sets (the MSL2 ones were great but many were sci-fi type), the MSL3 sets bring reality closer to videographers.

a satisfied customer (like Vegas, I use this to make my living with),

Hi, here's my first demo reel, take a look, nice high-energy soundtrack using pan/tracking shots:

http://www.SwingtradingUniversity.com/swingintrodec9.wmv (11 megs)

it needs a lot of work (especially first key, plus audio overall) ...

but I just got MSL3 this morning and Had to give it a go ... very pleased with the v-sets... now I need to go study the SM DVD on how to create better keys..

any input? thanks all..

Using Vegas 4 with Seriousmagic.com ultra and msl3, lots of fun to create these mini-movies in just hours...

Ken . .wonderful! You're really getting over the dynamic and "now" style needed for your industry . . . I do have some offline feedback. Wanna email me?

Grazie

Ken - I presume when the sets featured in FRONT of the presenter as well as behind, such as standing behind a desk, that something like Vegas' bezier masking would be used to cut out that part of the presenter.

Like overdone text effects, the 'set' shouldn't be the focus, should it?

I found it more interesting when it was closer to the subject and zooming in with a crawl, putting the focus on the subject, where it should be.

True re subject content/text ... for now I'm going for a high-wow/sizzle impact w/my customers.. I'll be adding "the meat" eg more presenter focus and content, in upcoming issues.. this one is mostly just to grab their attention.. vs delivering content ..

Peter, I suppose you could do it that way w/bezier masks etc in vegas, the hard way ... with ultra it automatically does it in minutes, easy..

sure grazie .. email me, appreciate it, ken at daytradinguniversity dot com..

The whole virtual set stuff is pretty impressive, very big in Europe where they don't have space for large studios. Seeing it happen in realtime is amazing, being able to do it without spending a bundle on hardware is equaly interesting.
Tell me, can SM handle motion tracking or do you have to match it manually? I guess that might be a dumb question, if you can afford motion tracking gear you can afford a higher end system.

The only thing that now puts me off about virtual sets is there seems to be limited range available for the broadcast systems, so, every so often I see one on air that I've seen used in the systems being demoed and it really sticks out..

The virtual sets are motion-tracked... you can add pan/zooms and do a lot to the entire shoot, both pre and post-production ... it integrates perfectly with Vegas, since you can import avis into Ultra, and vice versa ...

I use them with each other.. I may do a bit of footage in Vegas that I import into Ultra for one of the built-in screens/backgrounds, then export the entire Ultra avi render back into Vegas to add titling and audio tracks etc..

It's a perfect system, Vegas + Ultra

Ultra is an awesome product and your sales and presentation will surely rise.

Looks very impressive. Are the "camera movements" moving in the 3D evironment predetermined? or can you set up whatever movements you want?
