OT: server deal

For anybody that is looking for a server/workstation dell has a great deal for a dual 3.0 ghz xeon dual 73gb scsi 1gb ram, rackmount all for 1174.

i just picked up 2 for my self

poweredge 1850

One problem i've seen with the Poweredge line is that often they will only run the OS that Dell designed them for. We bought one that was intended for 2003 Server. We bought it to be a backup for our SCO server, but SCO 5.0.5 refused to install on it. I couldn't get XP Pro or 98SE to install on it either. Fortunately RedHat installed fine so it's now a backup for our Linux email server, and the generic box that was supposed to be the mail server backup is now running SCO.

I've heard from several other IT administrators that they've had similar problems with the Poweredge line.
