It was a head-down world record. One of the most difficult (and dangerous) disciplines in skydiving, speeds are in excess of 200 mph with that many bodies in proximity of inches. One small "oops" and several people could be paralyzed or worse.

The material you're seeing on CNN was shot using CX100 and CX7 camcorders, edited in Vegas, and delivered to all the news media in 35Mbps .mxf format.

Vegas has somewhat become the defacto editing application for much of the extreme sports community. I have a trailer with an editing bay in it that will be found at most of these events. I'm tired of hauling and shipping all the editing gear necessary to do this kind of work. :-)
Anyway, very excited for the new world record set at Summerfest, the world's largest skydiving gathering.
