To assure broadcast program compatibility in all formats of surround, stereo and even mono, a new constant (bass management) is emerging translating telecast audio to home viewers. With subwoofers becoming the norm in most “Home Theater “ setups, accurate reproduction to home viewers becomes
paramount. Some guidelines will be explored regarding remote mixing, the cause and effect of the home TV set, DSP option modes and the LFE channel. Various “live events” will be featured in stereo and 5.1 playback for viewing and listening. Possible broadcast methodologies and standards will be discussed and demonstrated.
