Grazie, do you mean the Thunderclap Newman one?

Alan

I didn't realise there were so many.
Surfer
Police Chase
Flower
Rocket
Lightbulb
All on YouTube
Trouble is I can't get any of them to play for some reason. I don't usually have a problem with YouTube!

Good, but I think that, principally, bankers tend to be withdrawn and wouldn't be invested enough to dance that well, or at least wouldn't have enough interest. Is there any way we can check it out?
AlanC wrote on 8/24/2006, 1:35 AM
Rex, did you mean "Is there any way we can CHEQUE it out?" :~)
RexA wrote on 8/24/2006, 1:37 AM
It works better from where I sit. We write checks, you know.

Yeah! Well done Alan!

I feel this one actually "employs" the process to underline and underpin the message:

"We gotta get together" - for those that MIGHT remember Thunderclap did this at a time when, well things in the West<>Europe were just about to fall apart? So, Babyboomers NOW are perhaps those of the age that are making BB decisions and this one song truly strikes home with its haunting coda and wistful reflection on just what COULD be. Oh yes ,. .. . I remember these times well . .. sometimes too well. Then we hit the '70s! Hmmmmm.....

OK . ..

"Join TalkTalk . .. " - people holding hands . .

"Free forever" - the Dove flying free . .

All-in-all? A most clever use of Medium WITH a Message working on SEVERAL levels. Very clever indeed. Thunderclap must be larfing his head off.

However, CPW have, I believe to rethink their "forever" claim?

Pop Trivia: Pete "The Who" Townsend produced this band late '60s. John "Speedy" Keen who wrote the song was Pete Townsend's chauffeur. Speedy had one of his songs on the "The Who Sell Out" LP - Armenia City in the Sky. [ Don't yah just love this INTERNET? ]

Moral of Story? Quality will definitely out - when needed!!

Nah! Don't short change yerself - Al?

Yes they are definately playing well on those memes. Not sure if they are targeting boomers or just using universal themes.

Re the music: I don't think I know Thunderclap, but I am hearing a lot of 60's-70's music in advertising. Some of it is clearly targeting boomers, but some seems to be also toward younger groups that may not even know the song has a history. So, I'm guessing on the music, that some is targeted to boomers, some is because the boomers are creating the ads, and some is because the rights on some of the older songs may not be that expensive.
