OT: Sony Vegas at Broadcast roadshow

Yesterday at the Sony Broadcast & Production roadshow, Vegas was mentioned in a presentation on NLE workflow solutions. True the presentation was mostly about FCP and Avid solutions for Sony formats, but there on an overhead was listed Vegas ---- Vegas 7e. Ah, obviously really in the forefront of Sony's thinking. And of course Adobe was there with CS3 -- time to revise those old skills with other NLEs?

Was that the HDNA roadshow?

I think I noticed it at the bottom of a table on one PPT, didn't catch the version number though. I should point out that neither Sony Australia or any of their dealers sell, support or even know much if anything about Vegas. Down here it's now handled by Intelliware, note that all their listed retailers are music stores.

Yes, The HDNA show. That would have been the same table. I thought the show rather under whelming, particularly the presentations.

Really? Intelliware? New Magic and Videoguys are still resellers.

I don't really know what the deal is with Vegas itself, New Magic still sell it and offer support, Videoguys sell it but I don't know what level of support they offer. I know New Magic at one stage looked like they were even going to offer upgrades via download but that seems to have not happened. VMS is on Harvey Norman's and HT's shelves and JB HiFi have it as well, even Sony retail shops have VMS on the shelves. I believe VMS outsells Vegas by a very large margin.

Intelliware are the ones behind the push into secondary schools I think.
