Those of you with Rear Projection TVs: have you ever cleaned it?
If your PC internals ever looks like Grazie's PC, then maybe you should check your Rear Projection TV internals. I just completed my "every 2 year" cleanup on my 10 year old Sony 53" rear projection TV. Amazing difference. I just added another 2 years to my TV in my bedroom.
Disclaimer: Proceed with caution, I am not responsible for any mess-ups on your part! Do not do if your TV is still under warranty.
My old 53" is out of warranty, so no problem. I take the lower back plate off, about 20 hex screws. Low and behold, dust and grime. You need: vacuum cleaner with long hose and brush, canned air, camera lens papers/cleaner.
Do not touch the three projection lenses! (yet)
Vacuum large globs of dust off if any. Hold the vacuum hose near where you spray the canned air to capture air-flying dust. Now the good part.
See those three lenses? See the film on them? Canned air first, several times. Then, gently!, the lens papers, or other preferred lens cleaner. Take the main dust off, then lens solution if desired. Be very, very, very gentle; do not bump the lenses. Buff until clear.
Put back together, then turn on the TV. Be amazed at the difference! I am every time.
