Office Max sells a Soyo 24" LCD monitor for $289.99 in their stores with no rebates ($299.99 on their web site).

It has only DVI and VGA inputs, otherwise no frills mentioned (such as HDCP).

Specs include 1000:1 Contrast, 6 ms response, 500 nits, 170 x160 deg viewing angle.

I've built several PC's with the Soyo Motherboards and their quality was always great. Their Dragon series won numerous editor's choice.

Based on their previous brand quality, I would consider other Soyo products.

I run with two 20" Samsung SynMaster 204B that are not widescreen. This 1920 x 1200 gives me the same height (so I don't loose out like many widescreen 20") but brings my 1600 horizontal up over 300 pixels.

Sounds like a nice monitor (don't use the HDCP so it is not a big deal).

The local store here in Portland has exactly one available--the floor model.

Still, I'd jump at it except for the fact that I just bought a very nice 22" less than a month ago.

Okay, in a moment of weakness I drove by an OfficeMax store and bought one.

Thing is awesome. Fantastic color, no dead pixels, no color shift as you move around, and $289! Only has an analog and DVI input, but that's fine with me.

Now I'm selling my brand-new 22" display (3 weeks old!) on CraigsList.

I've seen that at Office Max before, but lost a bit of interest because I'd never heard of the brand before. What seems like a great purchase now might come back and haunt you later.

I like a little more buzz & track record on a product, even at a low price. Just like you're starting to see with Westinghouse. Never would've considered one before, but now I just might.

DGates,

I agree, WOM is really important and so much easier to find nowadays.

The only reason I even considered Westinghouse was that I had seen two years straight of good word of mouth for Westinghouse LCD monitors.

Good to see that Soyo had a good rep. on motherboards at least.

And the $289 price makes me want to rip out my 19-22" monitors and replace them with this, except where used for production video monitoring. :O)

Especially if Office Max sends me another $30 off $150, like they do on a regular basis...

$259.00 for a 24" 1920x1200 LCD, mmm.... :O)

OfficeMax website currently lists product as "Currently unavailable", which I guess means I procrastinated too long. I am, however, looking at a 19" widescreen Westinghouse I bought for my wife a month ago for 179.95. I am really pleased with it. I have not tried to calibrate it yet.
