OT: Split Large AVI Files - Found Solution

Many recommended using Nero Back-it-Up and other solutions for splitting my 106GB HD AVI file. I found a simple and elegant solution using Virtual Dub. Using the "direct stream copy" video mode allows one to select a range within the AVI (keyframes for in/out) and simply save to un-compressed AVI. You can calulate how many frames will fit on a DVD by dividing your total frames/GB by 4.5. In my case I had 23,500 frames occupying 106GB. I was able to determine that I needed about 1,015 frames to fill a 4.7GB DVD.

BTW - I tried Retrospect and Nero Back-It-Up and both chocked on the file (locked up every time).

Hope this helps someone.
