So....You must be in Wisconsin? I spoke last year at their commencement. I'll be headlining Jazz in the Park there on August 26...Cathedral Park.
Thanks for the thought!!!
No way, I am marking that day on my PDA and if I can get past your bodyguards, maybe I can even say hello in person.
BTW, yes, you're right. I do live in Milwaukee and I actually tried to take that picture in the morning on my way to work but it came out blurry since the vehicle was moving. When I got back, I packed the kids and the wife into the car and made the second attempt which resulted in this image.
Do you ever make it here for the Indian Fest?
I've headlined Indian Summer every year until last year. Check out their website, http://www.indiansummer.org, and you'll find me there. I'm a presenter at their music awards this year, and won their short form documentary award last year. I also play Summerfest with Daryl Stuermer, and play regularly with Bill Bonifas. I lived in MKE for a while when I was with Narada, and was working with Peter Buffet.
The music for the Indian Summer fireworks show is mine and Peter's, from the Emmy-winning "500 Nations" CBS series.
No security guards at Cathedral Park. I do it as a fundraiser for the Easttown Association. I also perform at the casino once a year for a fund raiser for Indian summer. Finally, I've recorded several times with the MSO, and played every year for the Winterfest. There is even a song on my "Common Ground" CD called Milwaukee Nights.
I absolutely LOVE Pandl's on the north shore, and enjoy LaPuente in the 3rd Ward district.
You gonna come to Chicago for our VASST there next week?
Chicago, VASST tour, DSE, Blues Bars, Carson's Rib Shack, DSE, Chicago Art Gallery, DSE, Chicago Library . . the shore line . . I CAN'T TAKE THIS ANY MORE!!! - It's London, it's late Spring, it's overcast, it's chilly .. and my NLE MONSTA! is still in the hospital - AND I missed an appotinment for a job yesterday . . . Now I read this!?!?!
Okay Guys, please stop "taunting" me . . I'm starting to take this personally!
.. oh alright .. have fun . .go knock yerselves out . .
I am still trying to find a way to get to the VASST event in Chicago next week. I am rather poor at the moment and would at least try for the free Sony event.
Rafal is there any interest in a Vegas users group in Milwaukee?
I am in Franklin and have been fairly active in a Milwaukee Macromedia Users group but lately I have Vegas on the brain.
Then maybe we could get VASST tours to stop in Milwaukee and get free stuff!
Spot, WOW, never though you had such a presence in this area, you will have to keep me up on all the dates that you will be in the are.Unfortunately previous business arrangement will not allow me to make this VASST. I am however certain that this is not the last one for you in the Chicago area, I could definitely use some more training.
I'll be looking forward to seeing and possibly meeting you at Jazz in the Park.
Hey Tom. I wish we had our own group but I do not know anyone who uses Vegas besides me, although I suspect some people are probably running "extended trial" versions. I think we would need at least six members ( correct me SPOT ) to be able to get the "Great One" to make a trip to this side of the woods. Hmm, time to start searching around.
After Jazz in the Park, we always go to Ma Fishers for 'breakfast' in the middle of the night. Only place I know in the world that doesn't take credit cards or checks, or even money orders. Cash only, terrible service, great atmosphere, AWESOME food. BTW, I'll be at Shank Hall in November playing with Steve Morse.
Very cool Spot.
I actually have only lived in Milwaukee for 4 years and with 6 children I don't get out much. But the Jazz in the Park looks very intriguing. I am from the northern suburbs of Chicago originally and loved Jazzfest and actually more partial to Blues Fest. Now that I know you are going to be there I will have to make a point to go to the Milwaukee Jazz in the Park.
SPOT, would you mind if we all squeezed into a booth with you at Ma'Fishers? Tom, would you mind comming? And six kids???? I thought I had a big family ( 3 kids ) but six is a monumental achievement.
BTW, not sure when you saw the 3rd ward last Spot, but the place has changed, lofts, lofts, and lofts. There are actually people there like you wouldn't believe it. Gallery nights, one shop coffee houses, great scene.
I am sure I can get a "Hall Pass" from the wife to go out once in awhile if it is planned a year in advance and I get a note from the teacher. (Spot)
Our only experience with Milwaukee has been Irish Fest (me) and Italian Fest (my wife). The kids love both. We are going to the symphony this Sunday. I love all types of music and recently listen to Jazz and Fusion on the radio since there are no kid-unfriendly lyrics.
I was last in the 3rd Ward on March 6th, went to LaPuente for Dinner. I've played at the Skylight a few times, back when it was a dingy neighborhood, and now in it's "recovered" days too. It looks great down there, no doubt. I usually stay at the Pfister, Park East, or Hyatt down there, all within walking distance of the water district.
We did some commercial stuff for Polachek down town, and did a Harley ad there once as well. Got a lot of great friends.
Love to have you join us for late breakfast, but I don't think Fishers allows children at night. you might want to check.
I definitelly would come without the kids, nights like this are what grandparents are for. This is already exciting. I have been slowly getting acquainted with the artist types in the area although it will be a while before I am anywhere near your capacity. My biggest celebrity brush was doing a promo video montage for Cincere who has been making headlines in this area lately and actually has few songs on the radio ( at least locally ). I will also be bringing another artist to the scene in the next few months. We are starting with a series of 4 royalty free music CD just to introduce some of his beats and if the sound proves popular we will try to release a video and an actual album. Trying to stay away from doing weddings because everything else seems to be so much funner.
Tom, work on your hall pass, sounds like you deserve it, and we'll dine with Mr Vegas himself.
I love OT threads like this. They're more personable.
Anyway, I live out in Hartland, WI just NW of Waukesha. I've been using Vegas since version 3 came out. Still didn't make the jump to version 4 or 5, but am considering it now to get DVDA.
I would love to have a meeting of the minds sometime to learn and improve the tricks of the trade. Maybe we could meet on a quarterly basis or something?
I don't know too may other people who use Vegas either, but I tought it to anybody I can.
I guarantee you if the subject is Vegas the kids and Mom would stay home. When I start to describe some of the cool things it can do my wife starts to stifle a yawn and her eyes glaze over. My kids just want to know if I can have them do cool things. I have already had them fly --greenscreen Vegas 5 and a little bezier masking. I have also been helping Satish refine the Rotomate plugin and there is tons you can do with it now. He is awesome
Anyway, I would love to meet Mr. Vegas too. I have been a lurker most of the time on these forums it is only lately that I have spoken up more but I am thrilled to participate in such a supportive environment.
HeeHee --I have some friends who have a small horse farm in Hartland btw, very beautiful area.
If I can get down to Chicago next week that would be great (That way I can meet Spot and Gary too) but we currently have only one car. (Suburban) I have a Saturn in the driveway that needs an alternator but some friends gave it to us as a second car. If I can get it running for next week I will try to go I just got an e-mail that says $75 bucks off so now I am tempted --hey its just more consumer debt!!!
Lee and Tom. I think it would be great to stage some group, maybe bring the cameras, do some shooting, group projects, I love a concept of short films so take it from there.
Let me know. I can stage an area for us on my site. drop me an email, here's the address
