OT: SSL buys EDL Convert

I received an email from Solid State Logic today informing me that they had bought Cui Bonosoft's EDL Convert software and had upgraded it to include Vegas 8, which was definitely not working with EDL Convert.

In addition they've added ProTools 7.4 and Final Cut Pro amongst others.

The downside is that the cost had more than doubled and the uprade costs about the same as the original purchase price of EDL Convert.

In my case however this upgrade has come at a point when I need the ability to convert to the new formats available from the new version so I'm paying the money for the upgrade.

You can check out the new version at www.solid-state-logic.com (sorry can't remember the way to embedded hyperlinks).

The new version comes boxed with a hardware dongle.
The upgrade price in US dollars on the email was $249.00 but the online shop's price was $299.00. I questioned this in the purchase and will wait to hear about their email typo undoubtedly.

The $249 is a special upgrade price for previous users - good until June 2 according to the email I received. I assumed the upgrade price would be charged in the purchase for registered users. Were you charged $299 anyway?

Yep I was charged $299US. The SSL website has a figure of $299 for upgrading.
There wasn't an option for any other pricing and it did require the supply of original purchase details to qualify for the ugrade... not sure if they'll reduce the price once 'manual verification' of my eligibility for the upgrade pricing is confirmed.

The full price is $699US.

I'll post once I have a reply.

Just got the email with the price correction - $249 was a typo, it is in fact $299.

I got the same email so I'll be paying the $299.00.

I guess I was one of the people who brought the typo to their attention.

A shame they didn't honour the price in the original email for those who bought it before their price correction email.
