To make it sort of related to VEGAS, I'm using Sony cameras for streaming :)
We're looking to upgrade our video streaming at my church. Right now, we're running on an old AMD Phenom 9500 Quad dedicated exclusively to streaming video. It does OK, but the CPU does occasionally struggle. We'd also like to raise our quality a bit (Using Livestream Producer). LiveStream at the higher quality would be producing three streams simultaneously totaling 2.362 Mbs. Our upload capability is in the area of 5Mbits, so we're good with connectivity.
I've seen many opinions on whether hyperthreading helps with streaming, but I've yet to see any type of test result.
So, finally to the question. Does an Intel i7 give an advantage over an i5 running at the same clock speed.
Thanks,
