Hi Ulf!
I use that shop myself but they only have JVC branded T.Y. now.
I don´t know if they are as good as those original T.Y.
with "mediacode TYG 03" I´ve ordered from them before.
I´ve gone throu at least 5 internet media shops in Europe and noone has T.Y DVD-R 8 or 16x watershield TYG 03
or its sold out.
Is there a shortage of this brand even in US?

This is what meritline.com said about the issue: "Effective Oct 2009: Taiyo Yuden Brand Name Has Formally Changed to JVC (JDMR-WPPSB16-WS). Products May Be Shipped in JVC Packaging."

I ordered some in November and they still were labeled TY.

The TY discs have simply been re-labled under the JVC name. It's still the same media. But I can understand the hesitation.

The whole thing was a REALLY dumb business move by TY.

I only reluctantly buy Verbatim discs that use the TY dyes. Even though they are for temporary backup.

JVC is not a name I would necessarily equate with quality, not at the consumer end of thing, anyway.

svp.co.uk has the watershield disks, still branded as TY, as far as i can tell. SVP does ship to mainland Europe.

What makes the T.Y disks beter than others, and other than these what other brands are recomended for delivery to clients.

Verbatim has a good reputation.

Quality Control. One of the most compatible dyes around, reliability...

Not all DVD disks are created equal. Cheap disks are, as I understand it, rejects that have been picked up at knock-down prices, and rebranded.

I have used cheap disks in the past - burn failure was rife, and on those that did burn, data was lost after only a couple of months.

Stick with well-known brands and the chance of anything going wrong is greatly reduced.

Thanks for the tip TLF, SVP had all I wanted but they deliver only
in United Kingdom as I can see on their site.

Its rather frustrating when you can´t buy what you want.

SVP did use to deliver to Europe. Sorry for the misinformation.

But all is not lost! UKDVDR does deliver to Europe (I've checked) and they have the disks you want:

Hope that helps.

I used to buy all mu stuff at SVP, but suddenly they stopped to deliver outside the UK, too bad - I now buy all my stuff at DVDmarkedet.com and there I can pay without vat because I am vat registered, I could not at SVP. DVD markedet have very good service - deliver to Denmark in 3 days.

I dont know the UKDVDR site, but it looks pretty ok :-)
