Anyone using this beast?

We have been looking at a "portable" unit and tried using a USB device
and laptop computer to record two tracks (a different manufacturer) and
was not happy at all.

This unit will phantom power only 4 mics of 8 but can record them on hard
drive and either transfer via CD or USB to Vegas. There are 24 tracks to play with.

About the right price range.

I can tell you that I track with a 2424 all the time. I use the removable scsi drives and have had excellent success and 0.01% failure... I consider it rock solid. I lug it around to studios in a flight case from east coast to west coast back to Nashville. This machine has been a part of my daily workflow for over 3 years.... I even used it today and it worked perfectly.

I'm a firm believer that Tascam has good products, but their support has had some serious failures in the past. I never experienced too much of a problem with this since my Tascam stuff has worked well for me.
