OT: Transcoding Question

Ran into something interesting at work today.

We get Mpeg2 files from various pro houses, etc.

Recently we purchased a video server, with a Stratis HD video card. We recently found that unlike the SD card, the HD card does not like 4:2:2 video. It will only play 4:2:0.

So my question is, is there something like Sony Batch that we can take 4:2:2 videos and transcode them over to 4:2:0?

You can use Vegas with the Veggie Toolkit's Multirenderer from Peachrock to make this a piece of cake. This assumes that Vegas's mpeg-2 codec can read your 4:2:2 files and encode a 4:2:0 file that the Stratis HD card can play of course.

As a matter of interest what happens when the Stratis card tries to play the 4:2:2? The problem might not be the card, 4:2:2 mpeg-2 would likely be at a higher bitrate, maybe something else in the system cannot keep up.
