OT : trying to find a way to keep the tascam us-122

Nat wrote on 12/26/2003, 8:23 AM
I just got this interface and I get terrible dropouts on playback with my laptop computer.
The only solution I found to correct this is to switch to Standard PC mode over ACPI.
However, my laptops needs ACPI because the voltage changes dynamically. I tried setting up 2 hardware profiles but it didn't work :(
Any ideas or should I get another interface ?

Try using the wdm drivers rather than asio

thanks, the problem is not driver related, it will dropout in any type of software, even with audio cds...

Sounds like a system config issue.

You haven’t mentioned anything about your hardware or software setup.

Perhaps you are running Windows 3.1 on a 386? Who knows...

Virtually impossible to give you any help without knowing anything about what you have got.

Have you tested the Tascam on a different system?

Does your laptop have onboard sound? Have you tested it?

Are you running directx 9.0b?

Have you tried disabling onboard sound?

It works fine on my desktop.
I tried disabling pretty much everything I could (sound, lan, modem) with no sucess.
I am running dx 9.0b.

Thanks,

I just tried a Motu 828 with the crappiest firewire card money can buy and it works flawlessly.... Wish the tascam would do the same..

If it works fine on your desktop then it is clearly a config issue with the laptop. USB can be notorious for this kinda thing.

Have you installed:

That seems interesting, I will try this patch.
Is it usually downloaded via windows update or is it only a manual update ?
