OT: Varilux Pro and Power Station

Does anyone know whether the NRG Power Station II is designed to handle a VariluxPro on-camera light? Since the lights have built-in dimmers, w'd like to be able to them in the studio with an A/C to D/C power pack.

If the Power Station II isn't up to it, do you know of another power unit that might work? The light uses an XLR connector.

I asked NRG tech support this question and they've chosen to ignore it.

In general if it has the 4 pin Canon connector it takes 12 V DC, pretty much an industry standard.

The device you're trying to power should tell you either how many watts or amps it uses. The device you're trying to run it from should tell you how many amps or watts it can supply.

To convert a rating in watts to amp, divide by the voltage, so in this case a 24 watt device = 2 amps, add say 10% for safety.

To convert amps to watts do the inverse i.e. multiply volts by amps.
In this case a 1.5 amp device = 18 watts.

12 volt power supplies are very cheap, just make certain it has enough power for your needs.
