OT: Vegas-edited promo spot interview: Tips?

Hi -

Here's the "prelaunch" page for my latest Vegas creation, a 12-DVD seminar series; let me know your thoughts everyone, thanks...

http://www.StockTradingSuccess.com/

This project has consumed roughly 70% of my work time since March, doing the 3-cam editing for the 12-DVD system, a very very laborious process, to get it, and the DVDA authoring done "just right"...

I'd value your folks "first opinions" and reactions to the page; the main approach, from a marketing standpoint, is to get a lot of involvement and pre-launch publicity "buzz" going, so that when we do launch, on Oct 4, we sell a lot.

The interview is dark/fuzzy, I realize, should've done a two-cam OTS type setup, but we were rushed for time to get this done ourselves, so that's why.

Re sometimes no sound on clips, that's a firefox flash bug I think? if you use IE, or clear cache/refresh, you can hear sound... all are done in flash mx, not flash 8 since only about 60% of people have flash8 installed, according to adobe's latest.

Anyways, I'd value your all's comments as always. Vegas (and Ultimate S) were used to create this system, which I'm expecting will generate a significant portion of my income for this year, so I've gotta get it right... I'd value your thoughts on improving the site etc very much..

the last 7-DVD one I produced did nearly a half-million in sales in less than two years (www.TradingVideos.com); I want this one to do more...

thanks,

ken

Ken,

If I can be a bit critical. The sound has an echo and a buzz when I hear it through Firefox or IE6. I only watched a bit of the beginning and agree that it is kinda dark and fuzzy and would have been better if you shot some other angles to liven it up a little.
Too bad you were in such a rush since your other stuff has much more polish.

The 22 minute teaser needs to be of the same quality as the product you're selling. It sounds like that's not the case. First reaction to the video clip, then:

Unfortunately, the microphone placement is poor, resulting in far too much room sound. They (you) should both have lavaliers running through a soundboard and to the camera. Same for the testimonials: they're holding a microphone, but what we hear is just room sound. Quickly annoying, sometimes difficult to hear.

The transitions are top-notch.

I watched through about 11 minutes, and the single camera approach wears out very quickly. You state that you didn't have time to do more, but I think that's a tactical error. It would be great to see your buddy full-on when he's explaining things.

Color and contrast could use some correction, per other comments here.

The site is fine, but the video quality undermines your effort.

$0.02.

Hi - those are some excellent points you all make.. eg people assume one facet of the video production extends to others... and for this particular video series, which is crystal-clear 3-cam shoot, the quality is world-class...

hmm... maybe what I'll do then, is end up dropping the interview segment altogether, or putting it in smaller 240x180 resolution or some such... and highlight the video segments from the main product, which are top-quality shoots by pro videographers... thanks for the feedback all, it's very helpful.
