OT Vegas Movie at MANN'S in H'wood.

Just a reminder that my feature "Bred In The Bone" will screen at Mann's Chinese 6 in Hollywood on October 9th. Would love to see any forum members at the screening. The film is a real testament to the Sony product and associated products. I never edited before and the film won it's first fest recently, Best in Show as well as Best Actress and Best Screenplay. It was shot for just $5,000 on a VX2000 that I borrowed. I really hope some of you can make it to support the film. Couldn't have done it without the help and direction of you, the forum, and amazing products like Ultimate S and it's Film Look which clearly separated the look of my film from other DV films in the last Fest. First CONGRATULATIONS on your film!!! Way cool to have something playing in Mann's that actually used Ultimate S. The one time I was in Hollywood I stood in front of Mann's and was just in awe thinking about the legacy of films that have been shown there throughout the years. I’ve seen it a million times on TV but to just stand there I couldn’t help but think what it must have been like in Hollywood in its heyday of Bogart & Bacall. I can’t even begin to imagine what its like to have a film of mine play there. You done good!

Not sure what Film Looks you used but the ones that come with Ultimate S were done by Spot and the ReelPak add-ons were all done by David Jimerson. David has an incredible eye for taking a "look" and mimicking it with just the native Vegas plug-ins. I just write the software that applies them but I’m amazed at what he comes up with. I’m glad it made your film stand out.

Glad you brought up David, JR...David's looks are all through the film. If Stan shows the version of the film I just saw tonight, it will have a few film looks, some Davids and some mine in the film.
Stan, so very, very cool that Vegas and a VX2000 did this. Goes to prove content is king, because when it's considered no light went into this...just gain from cam...cleaned up using Mike Crash's filters and will be seen on the screen at Mann's during this monsta film fest, well...it's an impressive feat, IMO.
BTW, in case folks didn't know, much of the foley heard in the film come from Sony's premiere sound libe and/or ACID libes.
Now that I've seen the entire film start to finish, it's a terrific story, amazing camera work in some of the scenes, especially the intimate scene in the beginning. I'd like to know how you spun the cam that way, and kept it so timed and slow. Looks like the cam is suspended from the ceiling, but it's moving so slow....and never loses time.
Even though Stan's never edited a project before, it would fool most anyone. Most of the cuts and style of cutting is very creative and well done. I think the only time I got a little lost is in the "outside the restaurant" scene where Alphie's brother's throat is cut; the slice of cheek on the hood needed one or two more establishing shots. The twists in the story, coupled with a few well-placed edits, really kept me wondering right up to the very last shot of John leaving the coffee shop.
I hope this film does really well for you. This month I've seen full-length features from Jessariah, Muttley, and yourself, and all three are really well done. Some super-talented people in this community, that's for certain.

I will most definitely be showing the version you mentioned Spot...I'm so glad you added the technical descriptions for what was used to finalize the film...the only decision left will be whether I use the pushed 16 as in the earlier festival or Maxed warmth for a change...either way, I hope as many Vegas enthusiasts as possible come to see the difference these products made to my movie...I hope everyone takes the opportunity to reap the advantages of UltimateS. I sure as hell will use them in my next film which is due to commence shooting in 3 weeks.

Brilliant, congratulations and when will it screen in the UK? Are you considering entering it in a more International/Global Festival?

Thanks Peter, The format...the movie is going to be projected straight from the DVD, as will most of the movies...as far as the UK, wow, I never thought about that but someone did call me from singapore asking if it had distribution yet...they say the cover most of Asia and also the UK...I will definitely let you know if this happens...I personally don't see it as a theatrical release, I see it more as a straight to DVD release...I believe the interest is primarily the fact that for only $5,000 the film is very engaging.
